nice pants, no shoes

The Brazillian twins began their infatuation with graffiti and street art as boys in the mid 80s, pouring over and imitating art in books from New York like “Subway Art” by Henry Chalfant and Martha Cooper. By that time the homegrown Futura had already parlayed his graffiti on NYC trains into becoming an international art star and a touring painter, writer/rapper with The Clash. The genial and wizened Futura took this colorful Os Gemeos gig with pleasure, gratitude and some trepidation, possibly due to the logistics of painting an 80 ft. mural above the raucous schoolyard games below.

i say, nice pants.

comfy cozies

Knitta Please!!!! whaaaaat?!??!....... awesome. Knitta is a group of anonymous knitters who leave graffiti on monuments, utility poles, and other public items in the form of knitted yarn and other prepared textiles. Their mission is to make street art "a little more warm and fuzzy."

Started in 2005 by two women tagging the Houston metropolitan area, Knitta grew to eleven members. Up to a dozen groups internationally have followed their lead. Knitta has been invited to show their art in Los Angeles, Paris, China, Australia and elsewhere.

above photos are from a "tagging" in brooklyn recently.....

breathe deep

Rich Jacobs famed curator / artist.....
Inspired by graffiti, psychedelic and folk art, Jacobs' raw, colorful work frequently appears on a broad range of materials such as magazines, books, CD and LP covers, footwear, apparel, skateboards, buildings, pillows and so on...(thanks wikipedia)
His curation work under the name MOVE introduced obscure artists who are now household names in the art scene like Barry Mcgee, Chris Johanson, Margeret Kilgallen, Thomas Campbell and more.....
(hmmm my wheels are turning...)
