a BIG up

Photo by Simon Perini who is an amazing photographer whom i had the pleasure of meeting on his voyage to California last fall. always a fan of his work.

this photo just made me think. the famous saying if you don't fall down alot while trying, then what you are doing apparently isn't hard enough. fall down. lots. the journey is getting back up.
big UP

the warriors

After a successful inaugural show in March, the Guerrero Gallery continues with the excitement and brings you another curated exhibition featuring over 20 artists. Ranging from photographers, painters, sculptures and collage artists; each artist brings a unique personality and concept to the platform. Specializing in their craft and pushing the limits of acceptance, all of the featured artists are coming together under one roof to share their dedication to originality and concept. This show focuses on the artists' natural desire to create and express what is within.

Featured artists:
Adam Wallacavage, Albert Reyes, Alexis Mackenzie, Andy Diaz Hope, Brian Cooper, Chris Yormick, Cody Hoyt, Cody Hudson, Frohawk Two-Feathers, Greg Lamarche, Jacob Whibley, James Hopkins, James Marshall, Jay Howell, Jon Bocksel, KC Ortiz, Kelsey Brookes, Michael Rea, Michael Swaney, Mike Davis, Ryan Jaenke, Scott Anderson and Ted Pushinsky.

i have a Cody Hoyt piece hanging in my living room..... mmmmm yes please!

forever young

According to his bio: Nick Mann (aka Doodles) is San Francisco based street artist who's eye grabbing work can be simply described as modern day folk art (only it's not that simple). His creations are a complicated combination of delicately wheat-pasted pieces of paper, gritty spray paint, and eerie neon nordic creatures.

His show titled "Dont Take Vaccines" is at Needles + Pens • 3253 16th Street • SF, CA. 94103 through May 9th 2010.

i shall check it out today on my afternoon jaunt around the neighborhood.

enter the dragon

Paulo Jose Nimer Abilel otherwise known as Pjota is a painter living in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
reminds me of greek mythology with a hint of some forest creatures combined. i love a forest creature. i just discovered my spirit animal is either an miniature golden ibex (from the mountain goat family) OR a Racka (unique Hungarian spiral horned sheep) that carries red balloons while it scales the steepest of mountains....
i just cant decide.

time and space

stumbled upon this gorgeous photography by Andrew Volk. I am mesmerized by eerie photography. i have been told i like dark and evocative pieces before. cant help it. they seem to say so much without actually saying a word.
or perhaps i am just a moody gal!
these remind me of a diana camera...double exposures dripping in unnatural colors.
we all need a little time and space sometimes. i am taking mine.

Jeremiah Maddock
is an illustrator from Brooklyn, NY. i love his systems and almost diorama like drawings. He uses aged book covers as canvas to draw upon. The patterns have been referred to as "hypnotic"....... spooky. dont look too closely now.

sadly he just had a show at the Jonathan Levin Gallery that i missed.
